I promise I will write some posts on the wedding, honeymoon & house over the next few weeks. I need something to keep me busy now that the weddings over it’s a bit like being in limbo, I miss having things to do & keep me busy.

House Renovation – Room updates part 2

Well it’s literally full steam ahead at our house at the minute, with only 9 weeks left till the wedding we rushing around like headless chickens trying to finalize things and finish the house off. The good thing is that our house has now been fully plastered except the two spare rooms which we’ve decided to leave until after the wedding. They are currently being used as storage rooms to house our new bathroom and furniture till we can move them into their forever homes.

Our living room, Hallway and Bedroom have been fully painted and are awaiting the flooring skirting boards & glossing to be done. The Kitchen side of our kitchen/diner has been painted and my OH is putting together our units ready to have to kitchen installed next week here are some update pictures.

The Hallway

We have a pretty decent sized hallway and I was unsure what to do with it but then I realized it would be the perfect place to add some colour due to Josh’s aversion to colour anywhere in the house (if it’s not magnolia it’s not happening); I decided on lemon & grey which I know can be pretty dark in a small space but all the dark wood is going to be painted white, including the door and I’m going to add some bright photos & accessories to brighten it up. I’m excited to see the finished product.

The Living Room

As I mentioned above Josh has an aversion to colour so as we already had chocolate brown sofa & chairs we decided on chocolate & cream for our colour scheme. I will definitely be adding some kind of colour in here but until it’s finished I haven’t decided but I’m thinking emerald green & purple with hints of gold. Fingers crossed I get to add some colour lol

The Master Bedroom

Again with the colour aversion but in this case I’m happy with it as it’s exactly how I wanted it. My colour scheme is cream & gold I wanted it to feel calm, comfortable & relaxing with a hint of luxury. We have a hint of gold glitter in the paint it’s so pretty but really hard to capture in a photo & it matches the wallpaper perfectly which also has gold glitter and a gold shimmer.

There’s not much left to do in any of these rooms others than flooring, skirting boards, & glossing And other little touches like light fittings & plug sockets but these rooms haven’t got far to go now! I’m so excited now I can see it all coming together.  I hope you’ve enjoyed a little tour round our house and stay tuned for further updates on some of our other rooms.

Hen Do Part 1 – Marbella!

So while the OH is off on his Stag do in Benidorm. I thought it would be a perfect time to write a little about mine. 8 of us went to Marbella on the 16-19th may for my Abroad Hen Do. We stayed in an amazing 5* hotel it had gorgeous rooms and pool veiws and I had a fantastic time and I wish I could go back. We stayed for 3 days and 3 nights and although it was only short it was the perfect amount of time as we partied & drank all day everyday!

Originally I had planned to go to Magaluf for my Hen Do, cheap and cheerful lol but after looking around my sister (who is my chief bridesmaid) found a fantastic deal to Marbella in a a 5* hotel so it was decided that Marbella would be our venue! We stayed in the Senator Banus Spa Hotel for £89! Our flights were around £170 which was working out much cheaper than anywhere else we had looked. The nightlife in Marbs was great it wasn’t as busy as a lot of places because Marbs peak season is between June to September but it was perfect because it wasn’t too crowded and we got VIP  treatment everywhere we went which was even better as in 90% of the bars we went in the bride to be drinks free! Anyway I’m sure you want to see pictures so here are a few…

This is literally what I did the entire time we were there. It was so much fun & I’m glad I get to do it all over again in a month as it’s Hen Do Part 2 – Manchester here we come!

House Renovation – Room Updates

At the minute not much is going on in our house we are currently having our boiler relocated into the loft as it’s currently in the bathroom which isn’t ideal. Here are the rooms more or less on track…

Our Bedroom

This is one of the room’s that needs the least work. The carpets & furniture have been removed and the wallpaper came off pretty easily. Only two 0f the walls need skimming, the chimney breast wall will be left as it’s going to be wallpapered.

 The Kitchen/Dining Room

This is the room that needed the most work as the kitchen was long but thin and the dining room would have been a wasted space left as it was. We removed the separating wall to make it a large spacious kitchen diner. We are currently in the process of choosing a kitchen which is exciting.

 Living Room

This room doesn’t need too much work. We’ve removed the fireplace & bricks and the room needs plastering but other than that it’s mostly cosmetic work

I hope you’ve enjoyed a sneaky peak at the progress we’ve made I’ll go into more detail at a later date & I’ll show the bathroom, hallway & Spare rooms progress later so keep following for more updates!

House Renovation – Part 1

On Friday the 27th of February we finally picked up the keys to our very first home!

Since then we have been hard at it turning it into a home we will love. The house was well cared for but very old & dated and desperate for a complete  make-over.

So far it has been mainly wallpaper scraping as whoever lived in the house before us absolutely loved the stuff it was in every room of the house including the ceiling and some rooms had a lovely surprise second layer of wallpaper waiting for us. It’s fair to say wallpaper is my nemesis and I am now a fully paid up member of the I hate wallpaper club. Today we made our biggest change and knocked down the wall separating the Kitchen and dining room to make a big dining kitchen it has made a massive difference as the kitchen was rather cramped but now it big and bright.

Anyway first things first I’ll give you a tour of the house before any work was started on it.

So far all of the rooms apart from the hallway, 2nd bedroom & 3rd bedroom have been stripped and carpets removed. Every room is having a complete revamp and I will be showing you the plans & ideas room by room as we go by now that the walls gone we’re just waiting for the boiler to be moved into the loft as it’s currently in the bathroom once that’s done we can start plastering and really seeing everything come together. We hope to have everything done and be moved in before the wedding which gives us 4 months so keep your fingers crossed for us!

I hope you’ll follow us for the ride 2015 is turning out to be a very very busy year!

Christmas & New year were spent eating, drinking and being merry with friends and family.

The biggest news is that we have finally bought our very first house! I am beyond excited and all being well we should pick up our keys next week! Which in all honesty is lucky because we have A LOT  of work to do on it. We have big plans for the entire house & garden which I’m sure will fill my blog up until the wedding. Once we get our key’s I’ll post pictures of before during in and after and explain our plans for the house.

Back to the subject of the wedding, as the title says there’s just 5 months to go and so far everything has gone smoothly we are just £300 off our grand total then the rest goes towards our honeymoon fund. We also have our engagement shoot on the 1st March at our wedding venue and I’m excited about working with our photographer and finding the best shots and poses. I’ve also been busy DIY’ing gifts and decorations for the wedding our spare room is set up like a workshop at the minute lol it’s also playing host to all the wedding clothes including all of the bridesmaids dresses and shoes, which I’m going to do a full post on later this week. And finally my wedding dress has arrived in the shop and although they can’t fit me in for a full fitting I can go see and try my dress on tommorow!

That’s just some of whats been going lately and there’s plenty left to talk about but I’ll save that for my next post in the mean time you can keep up to date with me by following me on

Wedding Crazy

I know, I know it been forever & I can only apologize for the wait but things have been busy busy busy over here.

We’ve been applying for mortgages, looking at houses, going on holidays & save save saving but things have finally settled down now so I can get back into wedding planning. If you’ve checked out my to do list you’ll notice I have the majority of things booked. In the past months I have booked my cake lady & florist the next big things are the rings & bridesmaids dresses which will have to wait till November as one of my bridesmaids is about to give birth in October (eeek exciting).

So as those things have been on hold I’ve been getting some of the smaller things sorted and I finally found my wedding jewellery & tiara Yay! I have also bought all the bridesmaids gifts/accessories aswell which I will insert a picture of below. I love them I think they are so pretty especially since I am having slight a lovebird theme.

Dress Code Dilemma

Wow just had a bit of a debate over on the 2015 brides page about guest’s wearing jeans to weddings

Here was my post…

Is anyone having a dress code at there wedding? I more worried about the men than the women, I obviously don’t have to worry about day guests as I’m pretty sure they’ll all be in suits, but I went to a wedding at the weekend and most of the male evening guests were in jeans, trainers & t-shirts, it’s just that at the evening reception is at a pretty nice place I don’t want them turning up in jeans & trainers is it wrong to expect them to dress up a little? They don’t have to go all out I don’t expect an evening guest to be in full suits & ties etc but I really don’t want jeans & trainers. How could I word this in an invite?

All I wanted was polite way to include this in my wedding invite but unfortunately sparked a lot of “I don’t care what they wear as long as they are there” “It comes across as slightly bridezilla to dictate what your guests should and shouldn’t wear” replies,  Now for one I am not dictating to them, I am not telling them, I am asking politely if they could please wear something else. Now believe me I am not a snob, I’m not asking them the each go out and buy an Armani suit or Gucci dress I am asking them if they would please refrain from wearing jeans and trainers on this one little day, not asking them to sign over the rights of their house and custody of their children.

Now overall I really don’t care what the guests wear, as long as we all have a great time I will not be focusing or stressing about every guest that turns up with scuffed shoes or wearing jeans in the long run these things really don’t matter but it’s one small requests in a list of two that I have made the other one being have fun!

So forgive me if this means I’m bridezilla of the year, by all means call in the firing squad and string me up but I can not see how one small request makes me a bridezilla. Believe me I have heard of and met some bridezillas in my time who demand everyone should buy a brand new suit for there wedding, their bridesmaid has to lose 3 stone, or guests hair colour must not clash with the wedding colours and lots of other rubbish so if this is my bridezilla moment then so be it Everybody has there own vision of what their wedding will be like and this is mine I don’t expect everyone to agree or my veiws to be everyones views and each person and wedding is different and I can think of lots of wedding themes where jeans would be perfect and fit right in but just not in the veiw I have for my wedding after all it is my wedding I have the right to ask and everyone has the right to refuse.

Either way I will love every minute of our day jeans or no jeans!

Dress Shopping, Expectation’s Vs Reality

When it comes to wedding dress shopping we’ve all seen the films and programmes that have raised brides expectations to sky high heights that are more often than not unrealistic, unachievable and down right ridiculous…

The Expectation

You walk in the shop and are greeted with a bottle of champagne, comfy sofas and being waited on hand and foot and then there’s the ooohing and ahhing over each dress and comments about how beautiful you are then that moment arrives where you try on THE ONE and the tears start streaming, fireworks are going off and your bridesmaids are crying, your mums a weeping mess and the shop assistants all come to see you and vow they’ve never seen a bride or dress look as beautiful and you look like and angel….

I’m here to tell you get over it!

The Reality

Now I’m not saying that your experience shouldn’t be special, fun, memorable or even emotional it’s an exciting time and most often the one woman have most been looking forward to for as long as they can remember but so many women go into the with such high expectations that 90% of the time they have a terrible time looking for a dress. I posted this for my day 30 – tips – for ‪#‎marriedmay‬ on Instagram and I thought it would be good to go into a little more detail on here as I know so many woman struggle to find a dress even though unbeknownst to them they may have already found it. Here is an comment I came across and is the reason I am addressing these falsities.

“Ok so went wedding dress shopping today and I REALLY liked a certain dress ….. Everyone there said how beautiful it looked but I was only 95% sure so surly it’s not the one ……. I feel like I will cry when it’s the one x anyone help me”

I have a feeling the 5% of her that wasn’t so sure is the part that expected all of the above now maybe not so extreme but so many brides assume tears are the only way to ascertain a dress is their dress. Now I have to stress a point here I am NOT saying that tears wont happen I am just saying that it will not happen for every bride, me included. Please don’t expect everyone to be in floods of tears when you buy your wedding dress! Just because your halo isn’t glowing, fireworks aren’t going off and everyone in a 5 mile radius isn’t bawling their eyes out does not mean it isn’t your dress, It’s your dress because of how YOU feel in it regardless whether your grinning ear to ear or crying like baby.

I didn’t shed a single tear when I bought my dress but I just knew it was mine I can’t imagine wearing any other on my big day I literally stare at pictures if it imaging my walking down the aisle in it and of all the dresses I tried on it was the only one that made me feel amazing and after that there was no competition and while we’re on the subject don’t expect trying on your dress to be like being ran over by a steam train. My warm up to my dress was gradual, It was the very first one I tried on well over a year ago I liked it but wasn’t over whelmed and as I’d literally just been engaged for 2 weeks and I really wasn’t planning on buying one at that point. Almost a year later I resumed my wedding dress shopping and tried lots of dresses on and there was one I kept coming back to and I was beginning to think it would be my dress but out of curiosity we went back to that very first shop to see if they still had the dress in, mainly to rule it out but this time when I tried it on and compared it to the others I’d seen I knew it had to be my dress and there was no turning back neither me nor my mother shed a tear but we both loved it and knew it was the one, I imagine the tears will come on the day but either way I love my dress.

Also not everybody will love it as much as you do. How many times have you screamed at an episode of “Say yes to the dress” because the brides entourage are trying to make all her decisions for her and veto every dress regardless of how much she loves it and the brides ends up confused, frustrated and with no dress. Just because you, your friends & the shop assistants aren’t looking like rejects from Kung fu panda and aren’t all screaming words of joy and praise does not make your dress any less exciting or special. yes it can be disheartening because it’s such an important purchase that we want everyone to love it but just think how many time have you seen a friends outfit choice and though “I hate that dress” “I’m not sure about those shoes” and “I would never wear that” because unless you a magically transforming Cinderella dress you just cant please everyone and at the end if the day all that matter is how YOU feel, that you love it, don’t let a lack of tears stop you from buying the dress you want it’s your day so just be you and to hell with everyone else!

Hopefully you can go into buying a wedding dress with clear expectations. It’s ok to be unsure and think things over it”s the most important dress your ever going to wear and it needs to be right but more importantly it need to be you.
